On 20th July 2021, Noor Mukadam, a former Pakistani diplomat’s daughter murdered in Islamabad, the federal capital of Pakistan. According to the police, Noor’s father Shaukat Mukadam served as Pakistan’s ambassador to South Korea and Kazakhstan.
Zahir Jaffer is the accused murderer
The police said, the case has been registered against the accused and an investigation is underway. The brutal murder took place in a house located in sector F-7/4, considered an elite area in Islamabad. The police said that Noor was first knocked out with a sharp object while later beheaded.
Zahir Jaffer is the accused murderer, who has been arrested. Taken into custody for further investigation. He is a Pakistani US national, son of a business tycoon, Zakir Jaffer. Also a friend of Noor, who came to visit him that day. He allegedly threatened and kidnapped her. Moreover after killing Noor, he planned to escape. Zahir had his flight booked to the US for the next day. The case has attracted the whole country’s attention and asked, justice for Noor.
Diagnosed with Schizophrenia, Zahir was a certified therapist. Later on proved as false during the investigation. He is also a drug addict. At the time of arrest, he was aware and conscious on the crime scene.
Will justice be served?
The horrific incident has left many bewildered. People were fired upon the news of the 27-year-old’s murder on social media. They also tagged Prime Minister Imran Khan and social activists for justice. The former diplomat’s daughter murdered in Islamabad has garnered everyone’s attention. On hearing the news, Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook filled with raging comments. People started trending the social media with the hashtag #JusticeForNoor.
Noor Mukadam’s case made the whole country shiver. Since then, many women suffering from domestic violence, abuse, and sexual harassment have come to light to share their stories. As more hashtags started to surface online, #JuticeForSaima, and #JusticeForQuratulain. Qurat-ul-ain, a mother of 4 was brutally murdered by her husband.
Foreign Office Spokesperson Zahid Hafeez Chaudhry condemned the incident and expressed his condolences.
Prime Minister Imran Khan finally came upon to talk about Noor’s murder. The accused will not be given any preferential treatment who so ever he might be, laws are the same for every individual. Also, he would look upon the case himself, to give Noor justice. But the question remains, as more hashtags started to surface online. Will justice be served? When will this brutality come to an end? When will women be safe in this country?
